Tailor – made real – time yield prediction system for a rich dietary culture Nippon Koei are developing a system to predict crop yields from weather data using AI. Yield prediction for a wide variety of crops can support food supply and food culture on climate change. In addition, a development strategy of the rice sector in the Senegal river basin was formulated and approved by the Senegalese government. The Senegalese government is providing support to the rice sector based on this strategy.Climate Change Mitigation: Reduce greenhouse gases by AWDWhile it is important to project and adapt to climate change, society needs to mitigate climate change.Nippon Koei is implementing multiple strategies to mitigate climate change. Among them, we’d like to introduce the effect of expanding AWD.What is AWD?Source:DISSEMINATION OF WATER MANAGEMENT IN RICE PADDIES IN ASIA(Minamikawa)Paddy fields are a source of methane gas emission. When paddy fields are flooded with water, the anaerobic bacteria that produce methane gas become active. AWD: Alternate Wetting and Drying is a water management technique in which the field is drained to allow the soil surface to dry to a depth of 15 cm, followed by re-flooding to a depth of about 5 cm. This cycle is repeated several times during a single cropping season.The consulting service for AWDNippon Koei has been working on rural development for many years with African countries. With the experience of promoting AWD and connections with government agencies and companies that Nippon Koei have gained there, we will contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.It also provides consulting services for Carbon Credit business that converts GHGs into credits and serves as a link between farmers and investors.
